http://www.examiner.com/article/2012-gr ... ive-events2012 Grand Prix series medal count and standings (after five events)With only one final Grand Prix competition to go in the series, many of the spots in the Grand Prix Final have now been snatched up. With the conclusion of Trophee Eric Bompard this weekend, three of the four gold medal winners - Ashley Wagner, Yuko Kavaguti/Alexander Smirnov, and Nathalie Pechalat/Fabian Bourzat - took their berths to the Final, and other medal winners are on the bubble, waiting on their fate to be decided at NHK Trophy next week.
In the medal count, Russia is starting to pull away with the lead, as the host country of the 2014 Olympics won another four medals this week for a total of 17 in the series. Japan and Canada have the most number of gold medals, with four each.
