Evgeni Plushenko, Barbara Fusar Poli

“Sono felice di essere a Torino questa sera. Maurizio ed io, nel 2006, abbiamo cercato di regalarvi una medaglia. Non ci siamo riusciti, purtroppo, ma speriamo di avervi trasmesso emozioni”. E’ con queste parole che una spigliata e brillante Barbara Fusar Poli apre la VI Edizione dei Golden Skate Awards al Palavela, questa volta nelle vesti di presentatrice della serata.

Al riferimento alla sua ultima gara olimpica, prima del ritiro, segue, una dedica speciale. “Il mio pensiero va ad Alessandro De Leonardis, scomparso qualche mese fa… Ciao Alessandro”.
Lo sguardo di Barbara si alza verso il cielo, quasi a voler evocare tra gli spettatori la presenza di questo grande uomo che tanto ha dato al mondo del pattinaggio, ma poi la sua voce che si era incrinata, torna sicura e sul ghiaccio del Palavela iniziano ad esibirsi le grandi glorie del passato, coloro che hanno scritto pagine di storia, le certezze del presente, le speranze, giovani, ma con grandi sogni, del futuro.

Margarita Dobriazko e Povilas Vanagas: romantici e gotici.
La coppia di danza lituana, che fu tra gli avversari di Barbara Fusar Poli e Maurizio Margaglio, sembrano usciti da un romanzo di Dumas padre o da un’opera di Goethe. Portano in pista la passione e l’amore che li unisce ormai da molto tempo, comunicandoli con gesti ed espressioni dei volti, incidendoli con le lame.

Elena Ilinykh e Nikita Katsapalov: giovani ed eleganti.
La coppia di danza russa, bronzo agli ultimi Campionati Europei presenta i nuovi programmi della stagione: The Ghost, per la free dance, dove Nikita è il fantasma che insegue Elena, senza mai riuscire a raggiungerla, in una disperata incomunicabilità che solo l’amore può spezzare, Andijan Polka, per la danza obbligatoria, con costumi originali ed interessanti.

Laura Lepisto: distante ed irraggiungibile.
La campionessa finlandese appare ogni giorno di più come un’ondina, inafferrabile, evanescente. I lunghi boccoli scuri, un sorriso appena accennato, lo sguardo lontano, rivolto ad altri mondi, ad altre realtà.

Irina Slutskaya: esplosiva.
L’ambasciatrice di Sochi 2014, colei che ha regalato alla Russia allori e trionfi, è sempre la stessa: più donna, più matura, certo, ma con una immensa capacità di coinvolgere il pubblico, con salti e trottole, con una simpatia innata, con una complicità che rappresenta un dono unico e raro per un atleta.

I campioni olimpici di coppia di Torino 2006 si muovono sicuri, leggeri, si superano, sperimentando esibizioni nuove, permeate di provocazione e sensualità, si annullano con le maschere bianche che ne coprono i volti, ne celano l’identità e li trasformano, contemporaneamente, in uno, nessuno e centomila.

Nicole Della Monica e Matteo Guarise: sorprendenti.
In un anno, dopo la decisione di formare una coppia insieme, dopo il passaggio di Matteo dal mondo delle rotelle a quello delle lame, hanno bruciato le tappe: si comprendono, dialogano, si leggono nella mente e sanno attendersi ed anticiparsi, ma soprattutto hanno imparato a credere che i loro obiettivi possono diventare realtà.

Elvis Stojko: inarrestabile.
La medaglia di bronzo di Nagano e Lillehammer è un eterno ragazzo, con un volto da Paul Newman e una carica che travolge. Interpreta un pattinaggio fatto di forza, potenza e tecnica. Balla, salta, si muove su musiche dai ritmi moderni e veloci, alterna trottole e passi con fluidità e classe.

Stephane Lambiel: affascinante, autoironico.
Il campione svizzero, superati i problemi di salute, si mette alla prova, passando da un repertorio classico a lui affine, alla musica moderna come quella di Lady Gaga, ora Romeo, ora rapper.
Ma si sa, a uno come lui tutto riesce e tutto si perdona, persino un salto sbagliato.

Evgeni Plushenko: semplicemente regale.
E’ sempre lui, lo Zar di tutte le Russie, lui che sa rispondere colpo su colpo a chi lo dava finito, lui che ha lavorato sulle transition con Camerlengo perché si diceva che fossero il suo punto debole e adesso le esegue alla perfezione, lui che ha chiesto la collaborazione di Stephane Lambiel per le trottole, affinchè risultassero perfette. Lui che combatte contro se stesso e si supera sempre. Lui che manda in delirio il pubblico perché sa scherzare, parlare con i gesti, rendere tutto semplice ed immediato, come nessuno mai ha fatto.

Ed attorno a loro tanti personaggi, piccoli e grandi: le pattinatrici piemontesi, le Shining Blades, squadra di sincronizzato di Milano, vice campionesse italiane, che regalano anche un frammento di Natale anticipato, con un eterno girotondo in costume rosso e bianco.

Il finale è opera della coreografa Fusar Poli che, quest’anno, usa le “Quattro Stagioni” del “prete rosso” Antonio Vivaldi - le stesse che pattineranno nella danza libera la sua coppia Guignard/Fabbri - la musica di un violino, struggente e carica di significati, una musica per dire “addio”, perché è arrivato il momento di lasciarsi, ma anche per trasformarlo in un “arrivederci” al prossimo evento, alla prossima gara, al prossimo incontro con questi ed altri ragazzi che hanno trasformato lo sport in arte e, si sa, soltanto l’arte soppravvive al tempo.

GOLDEN SKATE AWARDS 2012 (english version)

On Saturday 20th October it took place the 6th edition of Golden Skate Awards, exhibition that saw Evgeni Plushenko as award-winning champion and guest of honour. It is not possible to imagine a skating show at Palavela without him because Palavela and Turin are synonyms of Plushenko. This special twinning was well-established after the famous Gold during the Olympic Games in 2006 and it was stressed more and more times by Plushenko. Also this year he described Turin and Palavela as “my casa”. A mutual love confirmed by the audience warm welcome. He is aware of this fact and he is very self-confident when he takes the floor. He knows what happens when his skates touch the ice. He knows that nobody will listen to the presenter, who is trying to list all the titles this skating legend has won. So, also this time, the “poor” Barbara Fusar Poli tried, without success, to present the “tsar” and he had to silence the audience in order to listen to the presentation. In fact, after the big and loved “prince” Stephane Labiel very classic performance of Tchaikovsky’s “Concert for violin” (unfortunately a performance with some mistakes), Barbara announced: “we talk about princes, kings… but now we have…”.

She could not finish the sentence, because the audience saw a blond head of hair at the edge of the skating rink and there was the roar of the crowd, a real infernal din. Plushenko smiles than starts skate on Storm. At the beginning the program was based on a very particular music, and it reached the climax in a very fast sequence of steps and spins, which always characterize Plushenko’s style, the style full of energy that we love so much. The intensity increased more and more and, at the end of the performance, Palavela bursted into loud applause. Well, yes, he is the “king”, or better, the “tsar” of this place. It’s his home. Three jumps included a perfect 3A.

The audience gave the same warm welcome to his second entrance in the skating rink with the new Free Program “Best of Saint-Saens”. He dresses a new costume that we already saw in the last shows and at Japan Open. In this case we could appreciate a more classic style, a very drastic change compared with previous seasons, a choice in keeping with Plushenko’s team seasonal aims. His slow performance allowed us to evaluate and appreciate his movements of arms and hands, a wonderful performance of swan movements. It started with the intense music of “Rondo Capriccioso”, then The “Swan” and at the end a dramatic sequence of “Danza Macabra”: a very well realized medley. Three jumps, double and triple jumps, with a very long starting 3T (this will be a quadruple jump during a competition). The audience watched him with rapt attention and at the end the comments were always the same: Plushenko stands out from all the others. Moreover, during the training, Evgevi made some quadruple jumps, so we expected to see at least one during the show, but it is a real rarity.

About jumps, during this show we had the opportunity to see the on of the kings of jumps: the multi-medalled athlete, Elvis Stojko! A very unique opportunity for all the Italian skating lovers to see a big man in the history of this sport. In fact, Elvis received the Golden Skate Award “for career”. Even if during this show he did not stand out for his jumps, he was one of the most cheered by the audience. Everyone enjoyed a lot during the first performance of the Canadian champion on the background music of “My Sharona”. Very strong personality and good communication skills! (We also remember his contribution to the discussion “The night they killed figure skating” after Vancouver Olympic games).

The winner of Golden Skate Awards “for career” was also the Russian couple Totmianina/Marinin; the winner of Awards “for competitive value” was the Finnish athlete Laura Lepisto and the Awards “for revelation athlets” was given to Ilinykh/Katsapalov, a very young Russian couple, who played their new season programs for the first time.
The only one not there was Elizaveta Tuktamisheva “the Russian baby” who we can see year by year on the Mishin Summer Camps (Pinzolo).
We were very pleased to appreciate again Irina Slutskaya’s performance, full of expression.
A pleasant surprise was the Lithuanian couple Dobriasko/Vanagas.
A lot support was given to our ice-skaters, Della Monica/Guarise, who are improving more and more their skills. The only thing we can say is “Good luck!” for their future competions.
At the beginning and at the end of the show, the synchronized skating Italian champions “Shining Blades”.

A wonderful show “to suit all tastes”. Palavela was full of thousands of people, who were very satisfied with this show, and we are sure that they will come also next year.
