an icon for of the Russian "school" of figure-skating.......
and to have to ASK for support and still be in DOUBT if you will finally get it from your own federation!!!!
Common sense is such a rare thing in this world............

I totally agree with you Dominique!
I don't even know how to comment on this rediculous, preposterous statements of Piseev. And seriously, I don't believe he's gonna achieve ANYTHING by acting like this. SOMEONE HAS TO FINALLY REACT AND PUT AND END TO THIS HORRIBLE AND WHAT'S EVEN WORSE, HUMILIATING FOR PLUSY SITUATION!!!
Zhenya deserves everything the best, they should fight for him to keep skating, they should be the ones who do everything in their power to provide him with all the best!

Dominique, I am afraid a lot of Russians are like that (I´m sorry I don´t want to insult all the Russians). They don´t care about medals they just want Plushy to disappear. Sometimes I read russian forums and I can´t believe what I see.
Probably in Greece a champion like Evgeni would have his own statue next to the Parthenon but in Russia he has to deal with guys like Piseev.

Russian people do want medals, but this guy, Piseev - what he wants first and foremost is to stay in power by whatever means. He is almost 80 years old and he's been the head of the Russia's Figure Skating Federation for the last 20 years. He just wants to hold on to power, and now he really hates Plushenko a lot because Plushenko has taken the risk and done the brave act of criticizing Piseev publicly.

There's been a lot of people who have followed Plushenko's lead and criticized Piseev publicly: Yagudin, Rodnina, Siharulidze, just to name a few. A lot of people in Russia hate Piseev so much, but just cannot do anything to get rid of him. When you see Piseev speaking on TV, his whole image just evokes complete disgust from the way that he speaks, what he says, and how he holds himself. Even the Russian President, who has so much power, told Piseev that he "needs to step down" and has excluded Piseev from the Presidential sports committee. But all that Piseev did was just change the name of the "position" he is occupying within the Federation and has remained with pretty much the same powers that he had before. The only thing he's done successful recently is to surround himself with people within the Federation who owe him something or depend on him for something, so they keep support him because of their own personal gain or interest. It's all about politics, and it's all very sad.
