Very catchy love it!! Original video cut in an upper- & a lower half!

Yes, I love this song, Alors on dance, Stromae is a very nice "discovery" :a_g_a:

I find very important to stress that the song is not a joyful invitation to dance, as the title and the catchy tune might suggest at first, but it's a harsh denunciation of Capitalism and its evils, as we can easily understand from these lines:

Qui dit proches te dis deuils car les problèmes ne viennent pas seul.
Qui dit crise te dis monde dit famine dit tiers- monde.
Alors on sort pour oublier tous les problèmes.
Alors on danse…

In English:
Who says close-down said mourning
Because the problems never come alone.
Who says crisis says world, says world famine, says third world.
So we need to forget all the problems
So let's dance...

In Italiano:
Chi dice chiusure dice lutto,
Perché i problemi non arrivano mai da soli.
Chi dice crisi dice fame nel mondo, dice terzo mondo.
Allora abbiamo bisogno di dimenticare tutti i problemi
Allora balliamo...

Sometimes, apparently "easy" songs talk about very important issues. The same thing happens with an old success of Phil Collins, Another Day in Paradise, the title would suggest a dream of love, but it's a song dedicated to the plight of homeless.
Can you perceive the great compassion inside his voice?

Nothing new really in 'wrapping up!' serious issues in smooth and
wonderful songs! A great example 4 intance is the beautyful 'Earth
Song' (What about us) by the late king of pop Michael Jackson..

I agree with you Simona, this song by Michael Jackson is very beautiful, but its sound is not "catchy": the music is poignant and passionate, just in tune with the text. Different thing when a dramatic theme is "wrapped" in a disco tune, as is the case of Stromae :mi_ga_et:

I couldn't get any good screen-shot from the original video of this song - because of the low quality of the film - so I thought it would be nice to show you two different versions: the old official video, and a more recent live, so you can appreciate the Dexter's hair change! In my opinion, the live performance is even better than the studio song, isn't it? :mi_ga_et:

Thanks for sharing, Darina! :co_ol:

Interesting statements by Anthony Kiedis, frontman of the Red Hot Chili Peppers .
BTW, it's worth stressing that he's an artist, a celebrity, a gorgeous tattooed boy and... a Scorpio! :mi_ga_et:

"I think art is inherently nonviolent and it actually occupies your mind with creation rather than destruction...

It seems like the chaos of this world is accelerating, but so is the beauty in the consciousness of more and more people.

We've just learned how to balance ourselves a little better so that we're happier way more of the time than not, and, you know, being happy is a radical and desirable act if you ask me. "
